Duties
The student IT helper is employed to assist with software related issues, arising from the use of student machines. This may include the following types of queries: -
- Printing documents
- Saving documents
- Accessing the Internet
- Advising students of appropriate software for specific tasks
Student helpers are also expected to ensure that the Learning Centre is maintained to an acceptable level, printers should be checked to ensure that they are filled with paper, and that toner cartridges are replaced when required.
It is essential that student helpers ensure that the Learning Centre is kept tidy and presentable at all times. All machines must be turned on, with keyboards and mice left in an organised fashion, this is a very important part of the job as it helps to create a pleasant learning and working environment.
